Anne Tinker, Chair of the Board
Ms. Tinker is a former Senior Advisor to Save the Children US and the global Save the Children Alliance. She served as the Director of the Saving Newborn Lives initiative from 2000-2007, supporting field programs, research and advocacy to reduce newborn and maternal mortality in developing countries, particularly in Africa and Asia. She was a founding Board member of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, and has over 30 years of experience in reproductive, maternal and child health in more than 40 countries, including ten years as a Lead Health Specialist for the World Bank's South Asia Region and its global Human Development Network. At the Bank, she was the principal advisor on women's health and safe motherhood, developed its first Safe Motherhood Strategy, followed by the first Women's Health and Nutrition Strategy, and chaired the global Inter-Agency Group for Safe Motherhood. Ms. Tinker has authored many publications, journal articles and book chapters on women's and children's health. She holds graduate degrees in international studies from Georgetown University and public health from Johns Hopkins University.
James S. Sligar, Secretary
Mr. Sligar is a partner in the Trusts and Estates Department at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. He focuses on the representation of individuals and families in estate planning and charitable giving matters, and counsels a number of prominent not-for-profit corporations. Prior to joining Milbank, Mr. Sligar was associate counsel for six years to Rockefeller Family & Associates. He has authored several papers and articles and helped write and prepare a report by the Bar Association of the City of New York Committee on International Human Rights entitled “United Nations Rights Covenants.” A graduate of Harvard Law School, Mr. Sligar has been listed in Chambers USA and The Best in America. He is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, having served on the Committee on Not-for-Profit Corporations, the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Lisa Stone, Treasurer
Ms. Stone is a Principal in the Senior Investment Advisor Group at Bernstein Global Wealth Management working with affluent individuals and families, trusts, estates, foundations, and pensions. She thoughtfully guides each client in developing a long-term investment plan, in light of their objectives. Ms. Stone is also expert in advising on the issues associated with concentrated stock positions and strategies to maximize after-tax returns. Prior to joining Bernstein in 2004, Ms. Stone held key management positions in the financial technology industry, most recently as Sales Manager at Misys Wholesale Banking Systems (formally known as IQ Financial Systems). From 1991 to 1999, Ms. Stone served as Sales Director at Inventure America (formerly known as Astrogamma). She received her Bachelor’s degree from Smith College. Ms. Stone also holds board positions with The Armory Track & Field Foundation and International Cinema Education.
Cristian C. Baeza, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Baeza is a Partner at McKinsey & Company, leading the Health Systems Practice worldwide. Previously, he was Director for Health, Nutrition and Population at the World Bank; CEO of the Chilean National Health Insurance Fund (FONASA); founder and CEO of the Latin American Center for Health Systems Research; and Director General for Sector Financing and Health Sector Reform at the Ministry of Health of Chile. Dr. Baeza has been a senior contributor to a number of multilateral initiatives on health systems and health financing, and has held Board directorships at GAVI; the Global Fund; the Micronutrients Initiative; the Global Alliance for Health Workers; and the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH). Dr. Baeza has M.D. and Master in Neurosciences degrees, as well as a Neurology Specialty Residency, from the University of Chile; a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University; and he completed the economics of social policy program at ILADES.
Noreen M. Clark, Ph.D.
Dr. Clark is the Myron E. Wegman Distinguished University Professor; Professor of Health Behavior & Health Education; Professor of Pediatrics; and Director of the Center for Managing Chronic Disease at the University of Michigan where from 1995-2005 she served as Dean of Public Health. Dr. Clark is interested in systems, policies and programs that promote health, prevent illness, and enable individuals to manage disease. She has extensive international experience and has led community focused projects in Africa, Asia, and Europe, as well as in the U.S. She has received numerous awards for her studies of public health education. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.
John L. Damonti
Mr. Damonti is the President of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation, and Vice President of Corporate Philanthropy at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. He has more than 20 years of experience working in the areas of health policy, community relations and philanthropy. Mr. Damonti began his career as Manager of Contributions and Community Relations for Mutual of New York, was also Director of the Primerica Foundation (now part of Citigroup) and before joining Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1991, served as Manager of State Government Relations for Ciba-Geigy Corporation (now Novartis.) He is a member of the Boards of Malaria No More, FEI Behavioral Health Inc., New York Academy of Medicine, and the Public Issue Committee of the Advertising Council. Mr. Damonti completed his undergraduate degree in psychology at Bowling Green State University and received a Master’s in Social Work degree from Fordham University. In 2007 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree also from Fordham University.
